by Balint Brunner (via LinkedIn) Sustainable aviation starts with sustainable materials. ✈️♻️ I took a trip to Glasgow yesterday to witness how aviation leather manufacturer Muirhead produces the world's lowest carbon leather - trusted by more than 160 airlines and aircraft/seating manufacturers globally.
The key: 100% circular manufacturing! That's right, Scottish Leather Group and Muirhead have developed an industry-leading circular model with transparency, traceability, and animal welfare at its core. Here's what I saw... ✅ Fully traceable supply chain - from grass-fed livestock to seat covers. ✅ Water is "borrowed", not used - sourced from their own loch, recycled back into production using their own ultra-filtration plant. ✅ Waste to Heat - a unique and impressive Thermal Energy Plant that generates heat from waste to power their tannery. ✅ A pioneering 'Take-Back Scheme' - reclaiming energy from end-of-life leather to complete the circle. ✅ Don't forget... REAL leather is naturally sustainable: a by-product of the food industry! For more information, visit the Muirhead website! Comments are closed.
